About me
Hi, my name is Jacqui Simpson and I am a Person Centred Christian Counsellor who specialises in bereavement counselling and work with clients from all walks of life and backgrounds, who suffer from depression, trauma, bereavement, grief, relationship issues, family issues, low confidence and self esteem, anxiety and work related stress, relationship issues, work related problems. I offer face to face, telephone and remote counselling. If you are struggling with an issue that is not listed, please make contact to see if I can assist.
I offer genuineness, empathy and reassurance promoting respect and dignity for the clients I offer my services to. I understand that clients need to build up trust with their counsellor and feel accepted and understood but also want to have their own individual needs met during sessions. Clients set their own agenda and go at their own pace and are offered a safe environment for this to happen.
I have sadly myself experienced grief and loss of very close family and friends and have undergone my own personal therapy journey, which enabled me to better understand the emotions and feelings I was experiencing but needed to understand.
Why should you choose me as your counsellor? Because I am unique in my person centred approach. I am the sole owner of Healing Time with Jacqui Counselling Service and I know from personal experience that choosing the right counsellor is not easy and can be quite daunting.
Therefore if you are feeling anxious, angry, emotional, frustrated, depressed, alone or feeling that you're feeling not listened to, you have come to the right place. I will help you to gain a better understanding of the grief, loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues you’re experiencing and work towards the outcome you want from the sessions. I will actively listen to how your presenting issue is affecting you and how you are managing to cope on a daily basis in the hope that you will start to adapt your life through empathy, self-care and interventions such as mindfulness meditation, therapy box journey and paper exercises. But also encouraging exercise, eating properly and better sleep patterns.
What makes me unique is that I am open minded and always honest with my clients and respect the truth of others. As an experienced and trained professional I seek to help clients get to the root of their problem and walk alongside them until they no longer require my services because they have become more self-motivated and confident to move forward in their life without counselling.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Level 4 Advanced Diploma in counselling, alongside a Grief and Bereavement Counselling Diploma and have become a pastoral carer in my local church and wider community helping others in immediate need or difficulty. l also help to run a yearly seven week bereavement journey course which I have also done myself on a number of occasions.
Therefore I am fully trained and qualified to help and support individuals through their grief and loss feelings but also can support clients who experience anxiety, depression, trauma and relationship issues. My aim is to help you gain a better understanding of the different feelings and emotions you're experiencing. I understand that everyone goes through some form of grief, depression, anxiety, relationship issues and trauma differently and that there is no right or wrong way and no time limit to express your feelings or get through your depression, trauma, relationship issues, and anxiety state of mind or experiences.
Before I made the decision to set up in private practice I worked in Private Healthcare with children, adults and the elderly for over 40 years and as much as I loved these roles deep down it was my dream to become a professional counsellor. This was so I could better help others to heal from past and present emotional difficulties such as grief, depression, trauma, anxiety and relationship issues but didn't have the courage to branch off on my own. It's also because I began to get more involved with palliative care and was identified as champion bereavement carer in my work role as a healthcare assistant and personal life. l found myself not just caring for the resident but their families too by listening and supporting them to walk through the dying process of their loved ones. I was also dealing with similar personal grief issues in my own personal life.
After sharing my dream one day with a friend of becoming a counsellor she encouraged and supported me to pursue my dream of becoming a professional person centred therapist and this is where my counselling journey began.
I strongly believe that any client that seeks counselling is motivated to change and wants to face their challenges.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
