I am a BACP accredited counsellor with 10 + years of experience. Much of my work has involved working with children and young people, families and parents. I also have an adult client base through my private practice and other counselling roles.
I like to offer my clients a caring, empathetic and interested listening ear. Where I believe my clients need challenges, I am able to do so caringly.
I offer my service through online means such as video calls and by phone. I offer individual counselling and parent training. For individual counselling I suggest coming for a session and seeing how we feel about working together then moving forward from there.
For parent training I suggest we have an initial brief conversation to see if the service is suited, and then a consultation can be arranged before arranging sessions.
You are welcome to check out my website for more information.
Training, qualifications & experience
My training has been across different modalities where I have been able to broaden my integrative practice. The therapeutic relationship is key across all modalities and this is my main objective to work towards whilst being able to assist my clients with a suited approach for them.
My training has mostly included, Humanistic, CBT and Psychodynamic. Through my training and practice, I am also familiar with Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Existential. As my qualifications show below I started of with an approach which best suited my personality, decided to focus on children, young people and family work, then took the approach of a specific field of parent training. The journey has taught me a lot about myself, my clients and therapy.
Humanistic Integrative Counselling (advance diploma, CPPD)
- Within this training, we covered modalities such as Existential, Gestalt, CBT, TA, Psychodynamic also with its foundation approach of Humanistic/person-centred.
Child, Adolescence and Family Mental Wellbeing: Multidisciplinary Practice (post-grad diploma, Tavistock & Portman)
- This was a psychodynamic training that involves systemic and group practices and child development.
CYP IAPT Parent Training (post-grad certificate, Kings College London)
- This training was based on research whilst training in behavioral therapies for behavioral problems in children and facilitating adapting parental styles.
My experience spans across various different settings such as schools, local authorities, charities, residential care and private business. During this time my counselling work has also had me involved in research projects and business start ups.
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
