Jacqueline Genova MA
I am a trained psychotherapist and have been in private practice as well as clinical practice since 1989. Before my training as a psychotherapist I was involved in health and fitness. I produced many videos and wrote a book and produced a television programme based on positive fitness. The concept of the series, co-written with Tony Buzan, was that you cannot separate body and mind. This philosophy led to my training in the foundations of psychology.
Differences between counselling and psychotherapy
Some people are aware of their specific problems when they begin counselling. To bring about a change in the way they feel, they may only require short term, once weekly, support to change their behaviour or the way they think.
Psychotherapy is when the client needs to work at a deeper level working with the unconscious and may need more than one session a week.
I have helped many people find inspiration, gain insight and fulfil their purpose and meaning in life. I can help you if you are:
Struggling to cope with the pressure of everyday life?
Going through a time of crisis or transition?
Suffering from anxiety, stress or depression?
Having difficulty forming intimate relationships?
Looking for meaning, purpose or direction in life?
Abusing drink or drugs?
Suffering from an eating disorder?
I worked for seven years in a primary care clinic and then an outpatient clinic where I was part of a team that treated anorexia, bulimia, and compulsive overeating. I also trained and worked in group therapy with patients suffering from alcohol and drug dependency
I offer treatment for problems with:
- conflict and anxiety
- alcohol dependency
- life changes
- separation and loss
- personal growth
- self esteem
