About me
I am a UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience working alongside individuals navigating trauma, attachment wounds, and emotional struggles.
If you feel stuck in patterns of self-doubt, overwhelm, or disconnection, know that these experiences make sense given what you have been through…..and they don’t have to define your future.
Therapy provides an opportunity to explore these challenges with curiosity and compassion, at a pace that feels right for you.
How Trauma Affects Us
Our early experiences shape the way we relate to ourselves and others, creating a ‘blueprint’ for relationships and emotional responses. The body holds onto these experiences, often storing the unresolved ‘charge’ of past events. When these remain unprocessed, they can lead to protective behaviours—such as self-criticism, avoidance, or emotional numbing—that once served a purpose but may now keep you feeling stuck.
Trauma is not just about what happened, but about how the nervous system responded and what it was unable to process at the time. When we remain in a state of protection, we may turn to coping mechanisms like self-harm, substance use, disordered eating, or isolation. While these strategies may have helped you survive, they can also contribute to feelings of disconnection, overwhelm, or distress in the present.
What Therapy with Me Looks Like
In our work together, we will explore how these protective responses are shaping your current challenges and gently develop new ways of responding to distress. A key focus of therapy will be learning how to recognise and regulate your nervous system’s activation—so past experiences no longer dictate how you feel today and shape your behaviour. By deepening awareness of your internal world and approaching it with curiosity and compassion, we can foster a greater sense of internal safety and introduce practices that better align with your needs.
I also facilitate weekly DBT skills groups, integrating knowledge of the nervous system, body-based approaches, and sensorimotor psychotherapy to make these skills practical and applicable. You may choose to work with me through individual psychotherapy or DBT skills training as a standalone option. Additionally, I am fully trained in EMDR therapy, a highly effective approach for processing past trauma and reducing its emotional charge.
As part of an adherent Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) service, we will begin with an initial assessment to explore what type of support would be most helpful for you. From there, we can agree on a therapy plan that feels right and sustainable for you.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
