About me

Hello and welcome, thank you for visiting my page. My name is Jackie, and I am an experienced Humanistic and Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Coach working with people aged 18 and over who want to manage anxiety and stress, overcome low mood, boost confidence, build self-esteem and resilience.

I have experience of working in the NHS and in a University setting and offer my professional support on a long or short term basis, either face to face, online or over the telephone.

What happens in the counselling sessions?

In a counselling session, we may take some time to explore and understand how your past experiences and inner beliefs may be influencing what is happening in the present. I believe that with the right support, it is possible to change unhelpful thinking patterns, inner beliefs, and the stories we tell ourselves which hold us back. Improving the relationship, we have with ourselves is key to helping us regain calmness and composure, giving ourselves the opportunity to flourish and grow in all aspects of life.

If you have had enough of feeling anxious and unhappy, or have a problem to solve, I offer a gentle, non-judgmental, and supportive combination of counselling and coaching, both are both positive steps for self-development and problem solving.

The benefits of counselling

  • Beat Anxiety
  • Control Stress
  • Control worry
  • Regain control
  • Help with Loss
  • Help with relationships

Counselling can be a positive step towards feeling more comfortable by helping you to manage your emotions, by getting to know how your mind works and how to manage it for optimal well-being. Counselling sessions provide a safe, confidential space to say what you need to say, explore different ways of looking at a problem,  which can lead to positive change, being less anxious, sleeping better and improving decision making.

The benefits of coaching

  • End procrastination
  • Increase confidence
  • Build resilience
  • Decision making
  • Life or Career Direction
  • Feeling stuck

Coaching can be a recipe for well-being, helping people to identify what emotional needs are not being met by their current lifestyle. Coaching is a supportive, impartial, and non-judgmental, helpful when you are stuck at a crossroads and looking to make a change in your life. Coaching aims to provide the essentials of good mind management and provide a toolbox of easily understandable skills to help you respond mindfully to life events, make good choices, and move towards your preferred future.

I draw on aspects of mindfulness practices, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), in order to work flexibly and tailor the counselling/coaching to suit your needs.

I see my role as walking alongside you, until you feel able to continue your personal journey alone, taking tools and skills with you to support you in the future.

If you have any questions about how I may be able to help you, or you would like to book a session with me, then I would like to welcome you to get in touch today. You can text me on 07513 931006,  or click here to send me an email.

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Forum is situated in Stirling Road, just off Market avenue, so is close to Chichester Centre. The closest public car park is the Cattle Market car park, 2 minute walk away and bus stops are nearby. It is approximately 8 minute walk from train station.

I also work from the peaceful and beautiful location of the Green Door Centre (formally Hamblin Hall) in Bosham, which has plenty of free off street parking.

I attend regular supervision to support my work and have Professional Indemnity Insurance  and current DBS certificate.

We are each on a personal journey through life, sometimes we encounter situations that can be challenging and difficult. When life feels full of struggles, we tend to keep battling on, hoping that at some point, things will improve. I know from personal experience how daunting it feels to reach out for help in challenging times, it does take courage, but the results can be truly worthwhile.

Maybe, you have lost someone or something dear to you, maybe you feel anxious and stressed, sad or down or simply stuck in a rut. Perhaps now is the time to start to make changes – maybe you just want to be able to go about your day feeling less anxious, be able to control panic attacks, or simply stop worrying about things and get a good night’s sleep.

I believe we all have the inner resources to resolve our problems, after all we are best placed to know ourselves and our lives better than anyone. However, when we are struggling, its often hard to see the wood for the trees. At these times, it can really help to talk things through with someone not directly involved.
