About me

Hello and welcome to my profile!

I am a qualified, person centred counsellor and registered member of the BACP. I offer a warm, empathic and professional service via Zoom and telephone.

I believe that we all have the ability to reach our true potential, and that therapy can be instrumental in helping us to lead a happier, more fulfilling life.

I work to understand your experience from your perspective, to enable you to feel accepted and gain insight into your feelings. Through working with you in a non-judgemental, enquiring way, we will journey together to help reconnect with your true inner values and strengthen your self worth.

Whatever your reason for coming to therapy, whether it's a significant life event such as a relationship break down or the loss of a loved one, a common mental health issue such as anxiety, panic attacks or depression or a past experience that feels difficult to move forward from, you do not have to go through it alone.

What to Expect

I welcome you to contact me via email or telephone if you are interested in working with me. All enquiries will be responded to as soon as possible, usually within one working day. You may feel a little anxious about your first appointment and I will do my best to help alleviate any worries or concerns you may have, and welcome you to ask questions. The first session will help me to gain an understanding of what brings you to counselling, and to explore what it is you hope to achieve through our work together.

I enjoy working remotely, and will strive to ensure you feel comfortable throughout your time with me. I always work within a private setting where I can not be disturbed, respecting your privacy in the same way as I would if working face to face.

Previous Experience:

My experience is wide-ranging, and I draw on my background of over 20 years working with children and families, my qualifications and training (which is always ongoing as there’s always more to learn) and my experience working within the field of mental health and counselling.

  • Listening Volunteer with Samaritans
  • Individual Support Worker and Group Facilitator for Children and Adults within a Bereavement Service
  • Volunteer and Associate Counsellor for a number of Counselling Charities working with Children, Young People and Adults
  • Community Engagement Facilitator within a Mental Health Charity
  • Secondary School Counsellor
  • Counselling Tutor
  • Employee Assistance Program work
  • Short and Long Term Counsellor in Private Practice.

I am particularly interested in working with anxiety, grief and loss (including miscarriage and baby loss), stress, trauma, issues related to childhood including attachment, self-acceptance, confidence, self-esteem and self-discovery.

I have a significant amount of experience working with people with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and trauma and people with a diagnosed mental health issue. I will always strive to work safely and ethically with clients, regardless of their mental health issue or diagnosis, empowering clients to take back control of their own mental health whenever possible. If you have a diagnosis, this is something we can discuss further, prior to booking a first appointment.

I currently hold a small private practice alongside my role working for a national bereavement counselling service.

I am working towards BACP Accreditation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
