I am a HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) registered and BPS (British Psychological Society) Chartered Counselling Psychologist and a BPC (British Psychoanalytic Council) Accredited DIT Therapist. I hold an Associate Fellow membership of the BPS. I am also a trainee EMDR therapist.
I currently work as a counselling psychologist and CBT therapist at the NHS and operate a private practice on Thursday and Saturday mornings. I see young people (aged 16-17) and adult individuals for a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, life crisis, life stress, personal development and relationship problems.
I am very passionate about and dedicated to what I do and I always make sure that my clients leave therapy feeling happier than when they started the treatment, as well as confident enough to deal with whatever challenges life may throw at them in the future. On basis of my experience, I can confidently say that most people start making either some progress or quite significant changes within a relatively short time frame of the treatment (depending on the type of difficulties they present with and the type of treatment they have).
Training, qualifications & experience
I have gained extensive and substantial experience over the years working as a counselling psychologist and a high-intensity CBT Therapist within different IAPT services in the NHS. I also obtained work experience in the private sector and in secondary care services, as an honorary psychotherapist, during my training.
I work within the Standards of the HCPC and the framework of the Code of Ethics and Conduct of the BPS, the Professional Practice Guidelines for Counselling Psychologists. I also adhere to the NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines recommended and evidence-based therapeutic approaches and treatment protocols.
My main approach is Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT), both of which are recommended by the NICE guidelines as effective treatment models for a wide range of psychological problems. I also use other approaches, such as psychodynamic psychotherapy (brief or long-term), counselling, integrative psychotherapy and elements of mindfulness-based CBT (MCBT) and EMDR.
Regardless of the modality of the treatment, my style is mainly based on the pluralistic, humanistic and relational approaches to therapy and counselling. This means that I see every person as a unique individual and tailor the treatment to suit that individual's specific needs, rather than fitting the person into a 'one-size fits all' model. While I closely adhere to the NICE guidelines treatment protocols, I also use the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle for transformation and change.
In the assessment session we explore your current difficulties, identify the main problem, discuss what type of therapy would be the most suitable for you and identify the goals you would like to achieve. Depending on your main difficulties, the duration and intensity of those difficulties, and the goals you would like to achieve in therapy, we might work within one therapeutic model or draw upon a variety of theories and techniques of the above listed therapeutic approaches.
I attend regular CPD (Continuous Professional Development) workshops and courses to keep up with any new developments in the field, learn new therapeutic skills and learn about recently emerging research findings, in order to inform my practice. After completing a Practitioner Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (DPsych), I also trained as a DIT (Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy) therapist. I am also currently training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) therapy.

I offer Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) to help the individual to manage these problems. I am a BPC (British Psychoanalytic Council) accredited DIT Therapist.

My fees reflect my experience and my professional skills and expertise. I find that people generally require between 8-12 sessions of CBT and counselling, 16 sessions of DIT and significantly more sessions of long-term psychodynamic therapy, in order to feel better.
I offer Saturday morning appointments and Skype appointments outside of normal working hours.

Payment can either be made by cash at time of session, or by bank transfer in advance of session.

Missed Sessions and Cancellations
If you need to cancel a session, then you will need to give me at least a 48 hours' notice. If you do not attend or cancel a session with less than 48 hours' notice, the full fee will incur.
