About me
I believe that everyone has their own unique way of seeing and responding to the world. The role of therapy is to help you to understand what these are and to make real changes in your life.
My Clinical Psychology doctoral course was very extensive as it focused on teaching us a range of therapeutic approaches such that we could adapt to each individual. My experience of working with very different people, with very varied and complex presentations has taught me to work flexibly to suit the individual.
I studied at Oxford University and completed my professional training at the University of Essex. I have worked in a range of fields: complex case service working with adult with anxiety, depression, relationships issues and OCD; I have also worked in psychological medicine with a number of health problems; an adolescent in-patient unit; a chronic pain service; and in an older adults service for people aged 65+.
Before working with any client, I suggest a free 30 minute telephone consultation, so that we both can get a sense of whether we can form a good relationship to deliver a high quality therapy. If one or both of us do not think that we are suitable, I will endeavour to recommend an alternative therapist who I think will best meet your needs.
My passion is to help people be content in their lives and so, although I do think carefully about the past and present, I place an emphasis on looking forward and working towards achieving your goals.

Clinical Psychology Doctorate- 2011 - Essex University/Tavistock Centre
I specialise in work with adults and teenagers with anxiety and depression.
I am also a trained couples therapist. While I help couples to improve their relationship, I also believe in helping couples to separate in a healthy way. I am a co-founder of divorceclub.com and work with couples to build a healthy co-parenting relationship.
My other specialist area is working with long-term health conditions, including chronic pain.
I am qualified to assess adults for Autism.
I am also an expert witness for the Courts of Justice for mental health and chronic conditions.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Psychological Society
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
