About us

We are an established and experienced service supporting clients with a wide range of emotional issues.  Integral to our working ethos is the therapeutic relationship, where we endeavour to help our clients with self-awareness, self- acceptance, resilience, re-connection and ultimately healing.  We offer an integrative approach which draws from a range of psychological theories, with a foundation based in counselling.

As therapists we work to understand your experience from your perspective, which can help restore a connection to your inner values and sense of self-worth, thus enabling you to find a way to move forward and progress.

You may be in despair, feeling overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, lost, or disconnected and at such times it can be very difficult to work through these issues and concerns by yourself.  INSPIRE can offer a calm and confidential space where it is safe to explore what is bothering you and work through your issues at a pace that suits.

INSPIRE offers both long and short-term therapeutic interactions, at our base in Whitfield Dover which we share with our parent company the Dover Counselling Centre, a charity and itself a long held champion of community support.  Today INSPIRE serves the community by supporting clients with a wide range of mental and emotional conditions, such as depression, anxiety disorders, effects of trauma, anger, self-esteem and worth.

Training, qualifications & experience

INSPIRE’S aim is to make professional therapy accessible, affordable, and convenient, so anyone who struggles with life’s challenges can get the help they need.  To achieve this we offer access to trained, experienced, and accredited therapists with a broad range of skills and knowledge.

Member organisations *

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.

Other areas of counselling we deal with

INSPIRE offers both short and long term models of therapy. Short term interactions usually focus more on solutions to problems or issues, and in discovering the resources and strengths a person has.  This model is goal orientated and often utilises CBT techniques and Solution focused therapies.

Additionally, the reflective nature of long-term therapy can help you learn to understand yourself better. If your objectives for treatment involve addressing multiple issues or learning how your past has shaped your present, then long term therapy can be very useful and is also applicable to attachment issues, developmental trauma from exposure to multiple or cumulative traumatic events, low self-worth and chronic depression.
