About me

Hello, I'mImogen.

This is my private practice, which I have named Inward Being Therapy.

This name fits my practice well because I see counselling and therapy as a journey of healing and change that takes place on the inside of you.

I also believe this type of healing is a process, often happening over a period of time, sometimes in both subtle and overt ways. In my experience, it is often less about "doing" something but more about being gently attentive to, and curious about, our own inner promptings that might be nudging us in some particular direction.

However things are for you right now, I know that change is possible and that reaching out for counselling is an incredibly courageous step towards this. I have a wealth of experience to draw upon, including my own experiences of therapy and healing from past traumas, which I believe has given me a unique ability to empathise with people who are struggling.

My promise to you, is not that I will always have the answers or know the right things to say, but that I will be there to sit with you in your pain, persevere with you during times of confusion, stand with you in your strength, and hold a light of hope for you during dark times, when you might be struggling to hold this for yourself.

I offer warm, compassionate support with the option of Online, telephone or face to face sessions from my office space in Malvern, Worcestershire. My office is right next to a beautiful park and outdoor space so I also offer the option of walk and talk therapy for those that would benefit.

As you will see from my training and experience, my background is quite varied. I have a special interest in trauma and I will be studying a Level 6 Postgraduate Diploma in Trauma Counselling from September 2024 onwards which will provide me with the ability to offer further specific trauma-focused support to individuals struggling from the impact of any kind of trauma - acute, chronic and complex.

I have also completed additional training to integrate Christian faith/spirituality/religion into therapy for Christian clients who would like to work with someone who is trained to work therapeutically within a Christian framework. As a Christian, I welcome people from all faiths and spiritual backgrounds, and from none.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
