About me

Do you need to find the right tools to help yourself? We all experience a wide range of feelings, such as personal loss, anxiety, grief, depression, anger and may have problems at home, at work, with relationships or from any other source.  If you need a professional, confidential, friendly ear you can find one here.

I hold Professional Accreditation status with the National Counselling Society (NCS) and I am subscribed to multiple Accredited Registers (NCS), British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) that have been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.  Acceptance onto these registers demonstrates my commitment to high professional standards, to enhancing safety and delivering a better service.

I was awarded the MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Keele University, itself a BACP accredited course (I do not hold professional accreditation status with the BACP, but I am a Member of the BACP).

I maintain enhanced DBS checks.  I work with some of the largest Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) in the UK, including Axa and CiC amongst others, to deliver nationwide help via telephone and online services.  I feel that I have (and that we all have) a lot of very varied life-experience, which taught me that not only is it 'good to talk' - it can be vital.  I believe that psychological and emotional well-being is just as important as physical well-being.  I believe that you, as the client, need your own space to discover yourself and understand what YOU need, and though I can help facilitate this process, you must be prepared to work for yourself within therapy, and reap your own rewards.  I believe it is most important that you find the right therapist for you before you begin your journey of healing.  Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is very important to me and I regularly attend professional development days, workshops and courses.  I abide by the ethical framework of the NCS (Code of Ethics) and the BACP (Ethical Framework).

In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
