Ian James Stobbs - Dip C., MBACP, Accredited & Registered.
- I have 17 years experience working with many issues: Alcohol problems, Child Trauma ( DBS compliant), Anxiety, Depression, Self-esteem, Anger and Relationships. Call me on 01482 641655 . I can offer sessions weekdays
I am an Integrative counsellor and mainly use SFBT and the Person-Centred approach. I realise it may feel daunting to initiate a first session and I am happy to answer any questions you have over the phone or by email - it is very important that you find the right counsellor. I offer a relaxing and comfortable private room at my home in Hessle near the river.
I trained as an Alcohol Counsellor in Eastbourne 2001 and gained my counselling diploma from Bexhill college in 2004 and my accreditation in 2011. I took part in a York University research programme into depression - the findings were published in 2013. I have also worked with young people for the Hull Youth Service and have experience of working with couples. I also do telephone counselling for a large well known EAP.
I spent 5 years in the RAF and many years as a rock musician and understand the demands of both these professions. Then, in 2000, I decided to train as a counsellor. I still compose music in my studio and take long walks in the countryside to reflect and let my mind wander
MANY OF US ARE JUST NOT HAPPY WITH OUR LIVES AND WISH WE COULD MAKE BETTER DECISIONS AND FIND IT HARD TO DISCLOSE OUR DEEPEST THOUGHTS AND NEEDS. MAYBE TALKING TO SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T KNOW YOU AND WON'T JUDGE YOU COULD HELP YOU FIND A WAY FORWARD ?
ARE YOU WORRIED ABOUT THE AMOUNT YOU DRINK AND WHAT IT MIGHT BE DOING TO YOU?
ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT SOMEONE AND JUST WANT TO TALK TO AN EXPERIENCED ALCOHOL COUNSELLOR? IF SO, PLEASE RING ME ON 01482 641655....ANY TIME !!!!
Comments from previous clients :
Thank you for all the help you have given me in these past 6 weeks. i have to say that I couldn't have done it without your guidance on how to slowly emerge from the emotional and Psychological morass I was in. I really connected with you from the first session. I changed from not wanting to pass anywhere near my place of work to actually preparing now to go back to work after an absence of 4 months. Thank you so much. (April 2018)
I have not seen since before Xmas and I'm doing really well. I've had one drink this year and I didn't really enjoy it. I'm on a new health regime and have lost a lot of weight and regained some self respect. Thank you so much for our sessions. I regularly remind myself of our discussions in particular that drink takes away power and strength. I was deluded when I first came to see you as I thought I wasn't an alcoholic and just needed to cut down. You made me realise the trouble ' it' had caused and why I needed to stop. Thanks for your help. (April 2018)
I made long term gains through the two of us examining the issues I find difficult. You took note of the negative and positive patterns in my life and helped me to develop strategies for being honest with myself which have helped me realise that I can be positive about myself when I make mistakes with the result that I have successfully fought against the trap of continual negative feelings.
