About me
Hello and a warm welcome to my profile.
My name is Hugh James Clarke, I am a qualified Psychotherapist and Psychotherapeutic Counsellor that holds a professional qualification, MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy.
I work in an integrative and relational way which means I draw from a range of theoretical approaches. My therapeutic model is based on a humanistic integrative approach in which I integrate, Existential, Gestalt, phenomenological, neuroscience and developmental theories.
Currently, I am working at Birmingham Counselling Services, Citizens Coaching on the initiative for Improving Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) service, which is now called, Talking Therapy NHS, delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychotherapy. I work with a range of clients suffering from depression and anxiety disorders. Working within this service allowed me to undertake extensive training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (High Intensity). I integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy into therapeutic modality into my practice to help clients change their thoughts and behaviours and improve the way they feel.
I have over 25 years of extensive experience working with people in various roles. I worked as a Careers Adviser for the Connexions Service, this job involved giving advice and guidance to young people. Also, I worked in the Local Authority with Looked After Children in the Leaving Care Team, this role involved supporting vulnerable young people, carers and their families with a range of social and emotional issues,
I have undertaken 5 years of extensive training on a Masters Degree programme form which I have gained a wealth of knowledge to work therapeutically with people in psychological distress. As a Psychotherapist, I have had 10 years of clinical practice experience working with a range of clients. I am passionate about my work, supporting and empowering people to make changes, improve their well-being and life.
Psychological distress can take many forms and usually manifest as stress, depression, anxiety, addictions, sleep problems, and many other relational issues. Psychological trauma can often be the root cause of issues people have and sometimes people are unaware of specific life events but they have a significant impact on their mental health. Identifying and understanding these issues and treating the root cause can lead to transformational long-lasting personal change.
I offer an empathetic, nurturing non-judgemental and confidential space for you to come and talk. My aim as a Psychotherapist is to help you understand yourself better in a unique way so you can move forward in a more constructive way.
If you have a particular obstacle in your life you are trying to overcome? Sometimes, seeking help from a certified expert is the best way to put things into perspective. As a committed professional Psychotherapist, your well-being and mental health is my number one priority. I’m happy to guide you through all of life’s challenges with the attention and care you deserve.
Thank you for reading my profile and I look forward to hearing from you.
