About us

Your Mind Matters
Fiona Harrington BSc (Hons.)(MBACP) is a trained psychotherapist, offering a professional Counselling and Psychotherapy service which provides a safe space to offload and talk about you. I believe strongly in the therapeutic relationship being key to change and work as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) to help enhance this collaboration.

I believe in breaking down the stigmas attached to mental health, support through emotional times is important to each and everyone of us, a place to go where you can be listened to; not judged and treated with unconditional positive regard.

An extensive period was spent at a charity for counselling and psychotherapy in Essex dealing with many emotional disorders. I also worked individually as a private psychotherapist. These experiences demonstrated the powerful effects intervention can have on people’s lives, for the better and inspired me to set up my own practice.

My vision to attempt to break down the fear of counselling and find ways of making counselling and psychotherapy much more accessible and less stigmatised. I know that when people need help emotionally, people need help now, not in 3 to 6 months’ time, so I provide a service that will be private, reasonably priced yet with less waiting times for intervention.   I aim to help people help themselves, guiding them to a better life and showing them that many emotional issues can be overcome and in doing so their quality of life may improve.

Member organisations *

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.

There are times in all our lives we need emotional support, here at Ryan Psychotherapy Services we provide a therapeutic counselling service that specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in a collaborative way, gives a structured base to start mapping out the rest of your life, enabling you to find coping skills you may not have realised you had.

Breaking down how you are thinking ; feeling and behaving gives an insight and understanding to what is upsetting you. Your triggers are unique, investigating how they impact you enables you to recognise them and find appropriate ways of coping.

What is Counselling?

Through my work as professional therapist I am able to understand the effect a positive environment has on a person, one that offers non judgemental support and empathy, enables a relationship to develop and trust to be established.

I offer:

A safe place to offload
To be treated with respect
Where there is no judgement
A place to focus your mind

Ryan Psychotherapy Services provide support and treatment for a wide range of mental health and emotional problems. CBT and talking therapy can help with issues such as, Relationships; Anxiety; Family ; Abuse; Stress; Anger; Phobias; Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD); Depression; Eating disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD);  Bereavement and many more.

Prolonged stress has been shown to be detrimental to the human psyche, it can lead to illness and physical and emotional exhaustion, psychotherapy can help to alleviate some of the symptoms, which if left can lead to poor emotional health.

Breaking down how you are thinking, feeling and behaving starts to give an insight into understanding what can upset you. Your triggers are unique, investigating how they impact you enables you to learn to recognise them and find appropriate ways of coping. Ryan Psychotherapy Services specialise in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).
