Holly Billington BA Hons, PG cert, MBACP Counsellor, Supervisor, Hypnotherapist
Hello and welcome to my page, please feel free to view my profile and ask me any questions that you have.
If you are struggling with any particular area of your life, feeling low or perhaps you have been through a traumatic experience, 1-2-1 counselling may be able to help. I work with adults, families, children and young people struggling with a wide range of issues.
It is really important to remember that you are not alone! From my experience everybody will go through difficult times in their lives. The first step is asking for help. By all means, this is not an easy thing to do, by the very fact that your reading this now, is showing that you do realise that life isn’t always easy, and that sometimes everybody just needs a little support.
Finding the right counsellor for you is essential. I offer the first session at half price. This is your opportunity to see if you think I am the right counsellor for you and if I can help you. For further information regarding my fees, please go to the bottom of this page.
About Me and Our Sessions
I am a professionally qualified and registered Counsellor. As such I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) this means that I am bound by the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. This professional body ensures a strict code of ethics and the highest standards of practice and confidentiality.
As well as working in private practice, I currently work for Virgin Care as an Early Help 4 Mental Health Practitioner (EH4MH) as such, I am a mental health trainer for head teachers and school staff in some Devon schools as well as offering consultation and supervision in schools. Therefore I have an up to date DBS Enhanced Disclosure.
My training is in Integrative counselling, which means I have experience working with a number of different techniques and can adapt to the individual needs of each person that I work with. I can work with you using different therapeutic techniques including Cognitive and Behavioural therapies including CBT or Humanistic therapies.
Each session will last 50 minutes. Everybody is different, so you may have short term counselling which only lasts a few weeks or longer term counselling, this is completely up to you.
I provide a non-judgemental, confidential safe space for you to explore things about yourself and any problems you may be facing. If you struggle to talk about your feelings or would like a different way of expressing yourself we can use creative interventions, such as art and sand therapy. This is again completely up to you.
Sessions Designed for Children and Young People
On top of the work I have mentioned above, I also have experience working with children and young people struggling with a range of different issues. If a child or young person is going through a difficult period of time, you may see their attendance at school dropping, they may become more argumentative at home, angry, have a sad or low mood, become secluded in their room (perhaps more than normal) or any other change in personality and behavior.
I can work with them on a range of different areas including; feeling low, struggling to keep up with exam pressures, friendship issues, growing up concerns including going through puberty, moving home, bereavement, separation, bullying, divorce, traumatic experiences, new family members, or anything else that may be troubling them. Sometimes when a child or young person is struggling they will try and find control in their lives, sometimes this can result in an eating disorder, OCD, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. I will try and help them through these issues which may include family therapy if appropriate.
I sometimes work with children using many different techniques including talking therapies, as well as creative interventions, art work and even nurture.
I also offer family therapy for families struggling with particular issues; I would see family members separately and together. Please call me for more information on this.
I also offer help for children going through transitions, such as moving schools and moving from primary to secondary school. This can be a very scary time for children and young people; I can offer coping strategies and school survival techniques.
I offer Hypnotherapy as well as the counselling sessions detailed above. I generally work with issues such as weight loss, smoking addictions, OCD, exam stress, difficulty sleeping, anxiety, confidence building and public speaking. I do work with other issues as well, please feel free to get in touch and we can discuss how I can help you.
