Hellen-Fair Mabhikwa, Jungian Analytical Psychotherapist, UKCP
249 Alcester Road South
I see people for both long-term and short term work. I offer in-depth exploratory work once weekly, twice or three times weekly depending on issues that you bring to therapy. I provide a space where we can try and make sense of life issues that can feel difficult to negotiate. This maybe difficulties finding your voice in relation to others, dealing with loss or feelings of abandonment. You may be trying to find your confidence in parenting or looking after yourself. You might want to explore general self-development and be curious about those niggles that stop you moving forward in life.
As a therapist I don’t know everything, through the analytical process I provide an environment that aims to facilitate you getting to know yourself better. I provide an analytical commentary on patterns that form between you and I, you and the world, as these can help us by bringing your usual patterns of relating to the foreground. This means that you will understand more about your relationships(family, friends, sexual, work etc.) and your role in them. Usually by the time people come to therapy they have gone through a lot of very difficult experiences or unfulfilling life events and perhaps feel out of synch with the world. Therapy aims to help to put some things into perspective.
You may feel like you have lost your creativity or your sense of self worth. In my work with you I would encourage you to bring words, imagery and also dreams all of which form a holistic part of you and are part of development. Words that represent emotional states such as anxiety, panic disorder, generalised anxiety, depression, anger, bereavement, loss, self-harm, bi-polar, sexual dysfunction , physical pain all form part of the initial presentation. Therapy aims to open these up to explore what your individual experience of them has been.
I also offer therapy or supervision to training or qualified counsellors, psychotherapists, social workers, doctors, nurses, teachers or others in the helping professions.
