I am a qualified counsellor with more than 15 years experience of working with individuals and couples in both the NHS and private practice. I have also managed workplace wellbeing and counselling services and am a qualified workplace mediator.
After an initial career as a journalist I retrained first as a social worker and then as a counsellor. The thread which runs through all my work is a desire to communicate on a deeper level and to understand and share in the emotional journeys we all take.
As a senior accredited member of the BACP I am bound by its Framework for Ethical Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure therein.
Training, qualifications & experience
I gained an MA in Counselling from Durham University and have continued to expand and develop my practice with further training, including person-centered couples counselling, cognitive behaviour therapy, solutions-focused therapy, life coaching and mediation.
I work as a person-centred practitioner, integrating different therapeutic approaches to allow me to work with the client to offer the most appropriate therapy according to each person's need.
I have extensive experience of working for and with organisations, including Employer Assistance Programmes.
