About me

We all experience challenging times in our lives. It takes bravery and honesty to accept that you need a guiding-hand to help you through this.

Central to my approach is to provide my clients with the openness, care and responsiveness of a different relational experience. Together we can explore - gently and at your own pace - the issues that are troubling you. The aim is to enable you to acknowledge and fully understand difficulties in your past, so that you can fulfill your current needs and desires and face the future with confidence and a sense of security.

I will help you identify the solutions to your problems - but they will be your solutions.

I am an experienced Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Certified Transactional Analyst Psychotherapist qualified from the Metanoia Institute in London, one of the leading clinical and academic institutions for psychotherapy. As an accredited member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), I abide by their ethical framework fo good practice.

I see individuals and couples for short or longer term therapy as required, seeing individual clients weekly unless otherwise agreed. In Couples Counselling I work with impartiality to help you understand where your difficulties lie, whilst also discovering more about yourselves as individuals and in your relationships with others.

I work with a wide range of psychological and emotional issues including those arising from bereavement, grief and loss, anxiety and depression, panic attacks, various forms of addiction and relationship problems. I have particular interest in working with issues arising from childhood difficulties, trauma and abuse, attachment and identity issues, neglect or abandonment. Additionally, I have worked long-term with clients with more complex emotional issues exhibiting traits of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder and Schizoid Disorder.

For 10 years I was a Samaritan, holding a senior position in my local branch. As such I am experienced in addressing suicidal thoughts and self-harm. I find that a lack of self-esteem can lie at the heart of many problems.

At our first session, we can discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and how we might work together, your hopes and expectations for our work and for you to decide if I am the right therapist for you. I am located in Guildford and offer sessions during weekdays and early evenings to suit your needs.
