About me

What Counselling can help with

Sometimes in life, we come across difficulties and do not know which way to turn, how to deal with the emotional pain and turmoil, and it can be hard to know where to even begin. There may be things going on for you right now that you need help with, or past unresolved trauma that is affecting your day-to-day life. You may need some clarity to organise your thoughts, or your feelings may be overwhelming.  I believe that every person is continually growing and changing throughout their lives in their own unique way. This can vary depending on your lived experiences, personal circumstances and environment, which can ultimately influence the choices that you make.

What to expect in a session

I provide a safe, comfortable space where you will be met with warmth and empathy, and can explore your issues without fear of judgement, or embarrassment.

Something that many of us struggle with is to really hear own processing, as we are constantly surrounded by the views of other people, or society’s expectations and often taking on advice that doesn’t match up with our own, internal processing. My approach is Person-Centred, which focuses on you as an individual without the conditioning of other, external factors.

I will listen to you implicitly, separating my worldview from yours and putting myself into your shoes.  Feel free to go off on tangents, to be unfiltered, to think, feel and talk it out whilst I experience your world with you, from your unique point of view. This will allow me to gain a deeper understanding of the impact that your experiences affect you and how you think, feel and operate in the world.

From your content, I will pick up on themes of what you are discussing and summarise this back to you, including feelings as well as your thoughts which will help you to gain some clarity and focus. Listening to you in this way will help you to feel truly understood and empathised with. From this deep connection and listening, you will be able to hear your processing, and gain a clearer understanding of what you truly feel, what your needs are and how you can move forwards in your life, following your own path and making choices that you perhaps felt were once not possible.

If face to face seems too daunting and eye contact is too intrusive, I can also offer ‘walk and talk’ sessions, where we can have our session in a local green space and walk at the same time. I also provide online therapy using Zoom.

I am LGBTQI+ friendly and sex positive (Sex worker friendly).
