About me

Whether you are going through a difficult time, struggling with relationships or feeling stuck, therapy can help you deepen your understanding of yourself and others and help you rewrite narratives that may be holding you back or causing you distress.

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Passionate about inclusivity and diversity in therapy, I provide a non-judgemental safe space for you to explore life and navigate its challenges.I have volunteered in community projects and mentoring schemes for over 15 years and welcome clients from all backgrounds.

How I work

I integrate psychodynamic, person-centred and existential therapy to help you gain deeper self-awareness and an understanding of what is impacting you in the here and now, uncover root causes, and find ways of healing and moving forward.

Sessions are a space for us to explore collaboratively and are led by you and the content you wish to bring. I will listen with empathy and compassion, sometimes challenging or offering an alternative perspective. Based on your individual needs and ways of processing, we might incorporate working with creative materials or practice grounding and breathwork to help regulate the nervous system.

Booking

In the initial 50 minute assessment session, we'll talk about your background, current situation and what you hope to gain from therapy. This will give you a sense of what it will be like to work together and ask any questions you may have.

Then, if you choose to continue 50 minute sessions are offered weekly on an open-ended basis.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling, and have completed CPD courses in mindfulness, working with trauma, ecotherapy and polyvagal theory.

I work with a number of issues including but not limited to self-esteem, identity, grief, loss, sex, relationships, trauma, body image, anxiety and depression.

I also help those navigating career changes or work-related stress. My previous career spanned the charity, education and publishing sectors, so I understand the challenges of working in these different environments.

With a background in sociology and contemporary history, I recognise that our environment and social structures significantly impact us as individuals, and I bring this awareness to the counselling room where relevant.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
