About me

As an experienced qualified Person-Centred Therapist I work with a wide range of emotional difficulties including relationship issues, generalised anxiety and depression, bipolar, physical or mental abuse,  post viral fatigue (PVF), stress/work related conflicts, and family dilemmas. I’m also professionally trained in Bereavement Counselling.

I work with a diverse range of clients from all age groups and different backgrounds encouraging them to find new ways to deal with aspects of their lives that they may find troublesome or painful. Discovering new perspectives that can bring about change and a sense of wellbeing is a major aim of the Person-Centred Therapy that I practice.

My counselling approach is based on successfully building a therapeutic relationship with clients which enables them to explore their feelings and emotions within a safe and trusting environment. I will work with you in a space where you will not be judged, where you will be heard with an empathic understanding and receive honest and open responses.

This approach has helped many clients to gain a better understanding of how their feelings and emotions impact on their daily lives, to learn to value and trust their own internal senses and to produce their own solutions which lead to positive outcomes.

Clients have also found that not only does Person-Centred Therapy help them with deep emotional issues that need resolving but also enables them to build motivation, increase empowerment and to develop improved self-awareness.

Wild Counselling - Walk and Talk Therapy

I have recently added Walk and Talk Therapy (wildcounselling.co.uk) to my portfolio. Below are a few words to describe the concept behind Wild Counselling and how working in different ways can help to inspire unexpected change.

Wild Counselling draws on the benefits of walking and talking to find innovative solutions to psychological problems. Holding sessions in different outdoor environments including parks, countryside walking paths and riversides has proven to aid exploration of issues and help to trigger solutions that could otherwise lay dormant. This is nature working at its best, giving individuals a sense of freedom to think through problems and share their emotions with their therapist.
You can reach me either through wildcounselling.co.uk or the contact details above.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
