About me

As a fully accredited BABCP & EABCT Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBT), EMDR UK therapist I am incredibly passionate about my work and believe that we all have the power to process what we have been through and create change in our lives.

I will provide you with a safe space where you can begin to understand your difficulties. Using a warm and containing approach we can explore how your difficulties are being maintained and what barriers are preventing you living your life as you wish.

As a scientist-practitioner I often begin therapy by explaining the biology that drives our emotions and physiological reactions. This will allow you to develop practical skills you can use to regain control over your emotions. We will then go on to draw upon a range of approaches (CBT, EMDR, REBT, ACT, SFBT, CFT) to formulate and address individual difficulties. I also treat trauma, traumatic memories and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, fears, OCD, phobias and pain with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy; a mode of therapy which uses bilateral stimulations to combat problematic memory patterns at a neurological level.

I can help you with feelings of depression (sense of hopelessness, isolation, lack of connection with others), anxiety (excessive worry, racing thoughts, social embarrassment), obsessive compulsive disorder (compulsions, intrusive thoughts and images), perinatal and paternal depression, phobias, low self-esteem, and anger.

Alternatively, if you or your partner has depression and this is impacting you as a couple, then Couples Therapy for Depression may be what you are looking for. This is a unique talking therapy specifically designed to help couples struggling in their relationship with one another.

I also offer one off sessions designed to teach acute anxiety management strategies for interviews.

If your difficulty is not listed above then please contact me to discuss an assessment further.

Further information

I have over 13 years clinical experience. I began working as an Assistant Psychologist with children with profound and multiple learning disabilities and autism, and have gone on to work with violence and anger, brain injury and in primary and secondary mental health care, including crisis care. I have expertise in older adult mental health care and memory difficulties as well as specialist experience working in perinatal care, police, prison and armed service personnel. I am currently working in NHS IAPT services delivering high intensity CBT and EMDR.

I don't believe that I, or any other therapist can be somebodies 'magic pill' but I do believe that with help and support we all have the ability to make sense of ourselves and the way we think, feel, and behave.

I also believe that you have to find the right therapy and therapist for your needs and accessing support privately offers an opportunity to elicit more choice over the care that you will receive.
