About me

Everyone has difficult times in their lives, it’s normal. However not everyone can fully move forward on their own, If your reading this its likely you or someone you care about is in distress, anxious, confused and/or experiencing low mood.

Counselling and psychotherapy can speed up the healing process and provides you with a regular time and space to discuss and explore difficult thoughts and feelings which are negatively impacting you.

In therapy you will experience a whole range of emotions; at times it can be really exhilarating, uplifting and playful as well as serious, frustrating and painful.

Some of the issues which may bring you therapy are:

  • Relationship breakdown

  • body image problems
  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Bereavement

  • Anger and Aggression

  • Redundancy

  • Eating disorder

  • On-going physical problem

  • Addiction

  • Sexuality

What can I expect from therapy?

In therapy you will explore how your problems develop and what you can do about them, how you have become the person you are and how you are in the situation you are in. Therapy offers a fresh perspective and introduces new thinking which can open up new ways of being.

Sometimes what happens in the therapy room is a reflection of what happens for you in the wider world. Exploring this, looking at the past and using the here and now in the therapy space is really helpful in supporting and challenging you to develop and grow and explore better ways of living.

Understanding yourself and your unique situation helps you to recognise the resources you need to make the changes that are right for you.

Do I need to do anything?

Therapy is a process you will be actively involved in, it isn’t something that is done to you.

Being actively engaged is really important; the more engaged you are in the work, the more you will get out of it. This means being as open with you thoughts and feelings as is possible for you. I understand this might be frightening, embarrassing or painful but it is important to share them so we can explore them together. All of your feelings are important and the more you give a voice to them more learning can take place.

How I work with clients is to start with an initial appointment. This allows us the chance to meet and get a feel for the the working space as well as talk about what you want from coming to therapy, ask me any questions you have and we can discuss the way you prefer to work.

This is also an opportunity for me to take some of your details and history so I can assess if I'm right for you as well.

After the initial appointment you are free to choose to go ahead with the work or not.

I work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the day and evenings and Thursday daytime. Let me know what times and days suit you and we can arrange something from there.

Further information

As well as talking therapy I have a large collection of art materials, objects, tools and techniques that we can use to enhance the therapeutic process if that fits with your way of working.
