About me

Hello and thankyou for taking the time to explore my services. I appreciate that it’s not easy choosing a therapist.

I see clients individually on a day and time that fits in with your work/life routine.

Deciding to seek therapy can be daunting but it is a positive sign that you are ready to think about the issues that are troubling you. People seek therapy for many different reasons. There is no problem too big or too small. Every worry and concern is valued and treated with confidentiality and respect. Whatever the problem, I am committed to providing you with emotional support when you need it the most. Importantly it’s a time for you. A chance to be heard and understood.

Why counselling?

Often life can be difficult and challenging. Dealing with day to day stresses can become overwhelming and exhausting. When anxiety becomes too much, your coping strategies may not work as effectively and negative thoughts and emotions may spill out into other areas of your life, leaving you confused and anxious. At times, it may feel easier to try and hide or bury painful thoughts and emotions, but often they can resurface in other ways such as anger, panic and depression. Friends and family can offer support at these times but they may avoid the true issues that are troubling you in fear of upsetting you more.
Do you ever feel that you're not being heard and understood?
You may not wish to confide in others as you do not want to worry them. In counselling we can explore and reflect on your thoughts and feelings and begin to understand your true emotions in a safe, non judgemental environment.

Therapy can be an opportunity to understand yourself more, why you think the way you do and react in certain ways.

What happens in therapy?

Ideally we will meet at the same time and place each week but where this is not possible there can be flexibility. Together we can discuss what is troubling you and what you would like to achieve in your sessions. Regular reviews can ensure progression and expectations are being met. Sessions will last for 50 minutes and during this time we can gently work through the painful issues that are holding you back, allowing clarity and the opportunity for you to move forward in your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I tailor my sessions to the individual client, using different types of therapy to suit a persons unique needs. No two people are the same therefore, no sessions are the same. I may use psychodynamic therapy to link your past to the present or CBT techniques to challenge negative thought processes. It is truly important that you are happy with the professional working relationship and it is my aim to ensure a high level of trust is established to enable deep emotions to be explored.

Previously, I have worked at The Leicester Counselling Centre and Coping with cancer, supporting individuals through loss, disability, bereavement, trauma, abuse, cancer, illness and much more, meeting individuals of all ages and from different cultural backgrounds.

Now as as Accredited Counsellor and psychotherapist I run my own private practice.

I am a registered with the following healthcare provider:

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Whatever is on your mind, troubling you and leaving you feeling stuck can feel easier to bear through talk and reflection. The relief from allowing unresolved issues to be bought to the surface and spoken is key. It takes courage to embark a journey of self reflection and tackle painful thoughts but step by step you can get there.
