Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I’m Helen a qualified counsellor from Leeds, with a counselling diploma from Leeds Beckett University. I’ve counselled people from ages 18 to 80.
I will help by reflecting your thoughts, feelings and emotions. I will actively listen and take the time to explore what you are struggling with. At the first session I will get to know you and find out what you would like to get from counselling.
It’s really important you are able to open up and trust me, so I will always welcome your feedback. I have been told that I am down to earth, warm and easy to talk to. I bring a huge amount of passion to the work and believe everyone has the right to live a happy life. I have a lot of lived personal life experience and I know what its’ like to struggle with your emotions or issues from childhood. I’m a member of the National Counselling Society, which is a body that regulates counselling. I attend regular supervision and training, to make sure I am practising ethically. I believe that counselling is about the relationship we build together and me bringing my genuine authentic personality to the work.
Sessions can take place in person at an office I use in a Physiotherapy business in Farsley, by zoom or phone. You can have a free 30-minute chat with me, before deciding if you want to go ahead. Each session will be led by you and we’ll explore things together. You are free to bring whatever you want to talk about to the session.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have experience of counselling people who are struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, childhood abuse, negative thought/behaviour patterns and issues from childhood. I’ve worked with clients who have physical and learning disabilities, as well as people from diverse backgrounds.
I trained with Cruse Bereavement Support and have volunteered there ever since. I was a debt advisor for 13 years and am currently a Wellbeing Coordinator, for a Leeds charity. This involves meeting people who are struggling with their morale, mental health, motivation and empowering them to achieve goals. From this job I have gained further experience in working with a wide range of mental health conditions, life struggles and ethnic backgrounds.
