Helen O'Donnell BSc MBACP
Our emotions can be painful and challenging at times, to the point where they interfere with our enjoyment of life or we spend lot of energy trying to avoid them. When emotions are muddled and bewildering us, they can infringe on our lives. I help people to transform their relationship with their emotions, making sense of feelings, which are otherwise unmanageable.
I offer a collaborative relationship and work hard to understand what people want from counselling, so that I can offer the support that they need.
I worked for over 15 years in the voluntary mental health sector prior to qualifying as a Person-Centred Psychotherapist and Counsellor.
I place a high value on the experience of each individual and their reality, believing each person knows what they need to bring about change in their life.
I aim to provide a respectful, confidential and supportive space for clients. Into this accepting environment clients have brought difficult issues, explored their thoughts and feelings and positive change transpired in their lives. Issues such as; Trauma, Child Sexual Abuse, Drug & Alcohol Addiction, Work Related Stress, Gender Identity Issues, Bereavement, Anxiety - general anxiety and panic attacks, Depression, Academic Work Pressures (Students) and Relationships.
I am a Person-Centred Supervisor and I'm a Professional Development Mentor for the Edinburgh University School or Counselling & Psychotherapy.
I am a Registered Member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and adhere to their ethical framework for good practice.
