Helen Marton MACC-Reg
Therapist working with individuals, families, young people and couples.
There can be times in our lives when we face difficulties and painful situations; it’s in these times when talking to someone can help. Family and friends can be very helpful but sometimes we need to talk to someone who we don’t know who can listen to us impartially, with empathy and in confidence.
I am a positive, warm and experienced therapist running my own private practice. I have also worked in local charities and many secondary, primary and private schools in Bath and the surrounding area. Alongside my private practice I work as Head of Counselling in a busy counselling agency where I work with children, teenagers, adults and families. I am currently studying a post graduate certificate in supervision. I also deliver bespoke training days and mentor counselling trainees.
I would describe my counselling approach as integrative drawing on person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT, systemic and the spiritual in a significant way.
I am a Certified Practitioner in Therapeutic Play Skills and work creatively with children aged from 4 years upwards. My approach is to use play and creative materials (sand, clay, drawing, painting, story telling, puppets, etc) to communicate empathy and acceptance to the individual child. Playfulness provides psychological security helping the child to feel safe enough to talk about their inner life.
