Helen Lowe MBACP (reg.) Dip, Adv. Dip
I am a fully qualified, experienced counsellor working in Chalfont St Peter, Beaconsfield, and the surrounding area. I work with adults and young people and I offer both short term counselling and, longer term open ended therapy. Shorter term work offers a focussed approach to one or two particular concerns. Longer-term work allows a more in-depth consideration of significant experiences and feelings that need more time to explore and reflect upon. This exploration in a warm, non-judgemental and confidential environment can offer a reduction in stress and anxiety and a greater sense of wellbeing over time.
I work from a psychodynamic perspective. This way of working understands that our relationship patterns and ways of behaving can be impacted by earlier experiences and unacknowledged thoughts and feelings. Giving a voice to difficult feelings can help us to think about how we experience ourselves and others, and develop the capacity to change.
If you would like to explore the possibility of counselling with me, please leave a telephone message or email me and I will contact you to arrange an initial consultation. This will be for about an hour and will give us time to discuss your current situation. Ongoing sessions are arranged at a mutually convenient time and at the same time/day each week, for 50 minutes.
COVID - 19
I have some current availability and am able to work remotely via Zoom/WhatsApp/Facetime video call. I understand that it is difficult to find a quiet and confidential space at home from which to consult a therapist so am able to offer some flexibility around session times at the moment, please ask. I would suggest an initial 15min call to discuss what support you are seeking and to consider how and when we might work together. There is no charge for this. We can then discuss possible further sessions and timing. I will be as flexible as I can be given the unusual circumstances under which we are currently living.

I have worked for a young person's counselling centre locally and continue to work with young people privately with issues such as exam stress, social life and family issues. As part of my continuing professional development, I attend several conferences and additional training seminars each year in line with the requirements of my professional body.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Initial meeting: £55.00
