About me

Welcome,

The challenges of life, past and present, can at times leave us feeling, overwhelmed, confused, hurt and stuck. This is when counselling may be helpful. Counselling provides a space to explore those issues that are upsetting you. It is very common to feel apprehensive about starting counselling however many people have discovered new perspectives and a greater self-awareness through the counselling process.

At the heart of my counselling practice is the aim to provide a reflective, safe and non-judgmental space where you feel listened to and valued. In so doing, I endeavour to help you discover the triggers and maintaining factors behind those issues troubling you. Greater self-awareness, and a fresh perspective can lead to discovering a more balanced and sustainable way of managing the life's challenges.  I offer an integrative counselling approach which means I draw from a variety of counselling models, so as to suite your own unique personality and style.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor, with a BA(Hons) in Integrative Relational Counselling and a registered member of British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP). I have a number of years experience working in the charity sector, supporting clients with a wide range of emotional issues. Previously, I worked in early childhood development, developing and presenting programs for underprivileged children in rural Africa.

Getting Started

Give me a call or send an email, and I will get back to you within 48 hours.  We can then arrange a time for an initial session, which is free. During the first session we will discuss what you would like to get out of counselling. If you think you would like to continue we can then set up a second session, and arrange for further weekly/fortnightly session.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
