About me

Sometimes we have no other choice but to take a leap of faith into the hands of a stranger. However difficult that concept might seem, we may feel that nothing or nobody else could help us. Maybe the stress at work is taking its toll or the relationship we are in is increasingly dissatisfying. Maybe a recent bereavement amongst other life transitions tipped the balance or the presence of a general feeling of anxiety that we cannot understand makes life difficult. Making the first step in contacting someone might be a daunting idea and yet a step forward towards a more satisfying, fulfilling life.

About me

I am an integrative, person centred counsellor/psychotherapist and have worked in North London for over 20 years. I provide a safe, confidential space where a non-judgemental, empathic relationship can be built.

First session

I offer a low cost first session so that we can explore together how therapy might be of help to you in dealing with anything that troubles you. My approach revolves around listening attentively to your problems and helping you find a better way forward.

How does counselling work

Some people want to address all their issues, some people just want to make a slight improvement in their lives. Sometimes further issues emerge as therapy develops. However you like to use your sessions you should expect to feel heard and accepted in a confidential and dependable environment. I recommend that weekly meetings work better but I can offer flexibility as required.

Areas of expertise

I work with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, phobias, panic attacks (often associated with anxiety), addiction, relationship problems, anger, stress, life transitions, loss, bereavement, disabilities both short- term and long-term, bullying. I work with individuals, couples and families and have a substantial experience working in the field of learning disability, brain injury as well as people with communication problems.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

If that is something that might interest you then feel free to contact me to discuss it further with no obligation.

I am able to offer sessions in Greek.
