My private practice is located both in the heart of Beverley and in the village of Catwick, (between Beverley and Hornsea) both in the East Riding of Yorkshire. My service accepts referrals from the NHS, Employment Assistance Programmes and from Private Clients.
Due to the current difficulties that the COVID-19 virus is posing in meeting for face-to-face therapy sessions, I have temporarily moved my practice to online video call therapy, know as Teletherapy. Instead of sitting in the same room, we interact live over video call. I have chosen to use the safest online platforms for therapy online as recommended by (ACTO) The Association for Therapists and Counsellors Online. I offer guidance and support with some of the initial setting up and starting, or moving to online therapy. I also offer a telephone therapy service if preferred.
Psychotherapy & Counselling
I work with individual clients and couples within a safe and confidential space. I offer both Brief and focal Counselling, working within short term parameters towards the specific goals of the client, and Longer term Psychotherapy, working at greater depth exploring dysfunctional historical patterns of relating, with the aim of heightening awareness in order to provide the opportunity for a more choiceful way of relating to self and others.
I offer a safe and confidential space for supervision to both accredited practitioners and trainees at a low cost rate. I have completed the appropriate supervision training within the last few years and am currently working towards completing the diploma which, for UKCP members, leads to recognition in the UKCP directory of supervisors.
Common issues explored in Counselling and Psychotherapy might include: Trauma; Abuse; Trust; Fear of intimacy; Ambivalent Feelings; Abandonment issues; Attachment issues; Depression; Loss; Eating disorder; Self harm; Unstable relationship patterns; Manipulative and antisocial behaviour; Impulsivity.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified and experienced Psychotherapist, accredited and registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy.
I hold an Integrative approach to Psychotherapy with core holistic values. I take a creative approach to therapy, working from a relational-developmental perspective. I adopt a non judgemental and respectful stance, recognising the value of each individual, abiding by the UKCP code of ethics.
I have a particular interest in working within the area of power imbalances in relationships and emotionally abusive relationships.
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
£45 for individuals per 1hour session.
£65 for couples per 1 & 1/2hour session.
£35 for Supervision per 1hour session. ** currently low cost **
It is my belief that finances should not be a barrier to accessing Counselling and Psychotherapy, therefore I hold a limited amount of lower cost places for those facing genuine financial difficulty. If this is something you wish to discuss please do so from the outset.
When I work
Weekdays & some evening availability.
