About me

Hi, I’m Helen, a fully qualified integrative Counsellor covering Hale, Altrincham, Wilmslow and surrounding areas.

I have many years of experience providing therapy and I believe in working with clients to understand their concerns in a friendly and non-judgemental manner. My experience has been gained working in the NHS as well as the private and voluntary sectors. I have had the opportunity to work with adults and young people with such issues as adult mental health, trauma, gender identity, anxiety, stress, relationships and well-being.

I offer a combined approach to therapy, working face to face, (or online such as zoom) and believe in building a trusting and safe working relationship to explore and analyse issues. This allows me to establish a collaborative way of working to identify the areas of concern which can then be processed through therapy. The combined approach allows me to draw upon a number of evidence-based therapeutic models, including Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills alongside Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).

I am registered with the professional bodies, British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and British Psychological Society (BPS), undertaking professional supervision and have undertaken extra training to qualify as a Counselling Psychologist. This will allow me to offer in-depth analysis and a broader range of therapeutic solutions.

I offer both face to face and online therapy, and I’m also a Clinical Supervisor for counselling students and colleagues

My personal journey has allowed knowledge, wisdom, kindness with a sense of humour to influence my approach as a therapist. If you would like to contact me we can discuss your concerns and I can offer insights as to how I can help.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
