About me

I am a professional and qualified counsellor with an empathic, supportive and realistic approach to working with people. I provide a safe space in which you can explore what is going on for you. I am able to support and guide you, I will not judge or offer advice.

As an integrative counsellor I use a range of models to best suit the individual, so I can tailor the therapy to you and your needs. I am able to use creative techniques within the sessions offering an alternative to talking, which can be beneficial for children and young people (and of course, adults!).

I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to the BACP's Ethical Framework in my professional practice.

I have experience of working on a long term and short term basis with a wide range of clients from the age of 10 years old and upwards. This has been through working in both private practice and the charity sector for organisations supporting those with mental health issues and those who have experienced abuse and trauma. I have also worked within a secondary school offering counselling to students aged between 11 and 19 years old on a variety of issues. My experience has meant I have worked with adults and young people on many issues including anxiety, stress, depression, abuse, trauma, grief and loss, bullying, anger, self esteem and confidence to name a few.

What to expect

Once you have made contact with me I initially offer a short phone conversation to get a sense of what is going on for you and find out more about what you hope to gain from counselling. I will also explain a bit about how I work. An email exchange can also be arranged if preferred. We can then both agree whether to continue onto an Initial Assessment Session.

The initial assessment session is a face to face meeting that explores the challenges you are facing now or have done in the past, your reasons for seeking counselling, your hopes and goals; it is also further opportunity for us to decide whether we would like to work together. We can decide in this session on a number of sessions, however this can be reviewed as we go along as this often changes.

Once we have agreed to the counselling sessions we will find a suitable day and time for you to attend on a weekly basis.
