About me

I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist working in West London and the City. Talking to a therapist can make sense of painful events and feelings, helping you to heal, move on and fulfil your potential. I offer a secure, confidential, non judgemental space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. At the moment I am working virtually using Zoom or Facetime and hope to return to face to face consultations as soon as possible.

Often our past informs our present and determines our feelings about the future. Painful experiences can sometimes prevent us from being truly ourselves. I work with my clients to open up and explore their experiences in order to better understand who they are and what they might become, to find meaning and a greater sense of purpose in life. This in turn can help to create better relationships with partners, colleagues and family and to stop repeating negative thoughts, behaviour and relationships and move more easily in the world. Whether you are struggling with a traumatic life event or a more general feeling of sadness and a lack of purpose, therapy can help.

In my work with charities, in a GP's surgery and in private practice, I have experience of working with a large range of issues including depression, anxiety, anger, abuse, addiction, bereavement, relationship problems, eating disorders and low self-esteem.

I also offer counselling for couples, providing a neutral safe space to explore issues within a relationship. Patterns of behaviour and communication mean that a relationship can feel like it is stuck, that one or both of you are not thriving. In counselling we look at the triggers and patterns of responses that are damaging the relationship, the unconscious processes that attracted you to each other, attachment styles, and the childhood wounds that might be impacting negatively on the relationship. We also look at the strengths in the relationship and map out a future vision.

I trained in humanistic, existential and psychodynamic approaches to psychotherapy, and I like to draw on whatever seems most appropriate in each individual case. But central to my practice is creating a strong relationship with my clients.

I generally see you for fifty minutes once a week. You can have either short term counselling or more longer term, open ended, psychotherapy.

To start with I offer an initial fifty minute consultation which gives us the opportunity to meet, talk through the process, and see if I can help.

Please e-mail me or telephone if you have and questions or just want to know more.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained as a counsellor and psychotherapist at Roehampton University and am experienced in Humanistic, existential and psychodynamic approaches to therapy. More recently I have been studying the work of Carl Jung at the Society for Analytical Psychology.

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work to their ethical guidelines.

My experience includes working as a counsellor and psychotherapist for charities and in GP's practices.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
