About me

How counselling can help

At this moment in time you may not know what is causing you distress but many people find that by talking things over can help them understand how to take control of their lives and make the right choices without being judged or told what to do.

As a person-centred counsellor my personal beliefs transfer into the work we do together. I have a genuine interest in wanting to help people. My aim is to listen to your experiences and evaluate your individual needs.  I believe that as human beings we are all unique and have an innate tendency to develop towards our full potential.  My objective therefore is to provide a space for you to experience and accept more of who you are as a person without feeling judged or under threat and reconnect with your own values, beliefs and sense of self-worth.  This re-connection with one’s inner resources enables you to find your own way to move forward and live a more fulfilling life.

What to expect at your first session

As you are reading this you are probably considering therapy; however therapy is not necessarily suitable for every person and every problem.  I will therefore devote the first session to informing you more about the way I work and if you think counselling will address the difficulties you are experiencing.  During this initial session it will be an opportunity for you to experience how effective my presence has been while listening to you and if you feel you would like me alongside you whilst you proceed on your therapeutic journey. If you feel that counselling may not be the right choice for you, but maybe some other support may be more beneficial, we can discuss where else you might seek this.

I am able to work with clients over long or short term. My sessions are one hour in duration and I usually see clients initially on a weekly basis. I aim to offer as much flexibility as possible being aware of work and family commitments.
