About me

We all have times when we lack confidence and do not feel good about ourselves. But if this becomes a longer - term problem it can have a harmful effect on our mental health and well-being that impacts our day to day lives. I specialise in helping women to understand childhood trauma and how this can affect self -esteem throughout our lives. We can’t hope for a better childhood but we can hope for a better future.

This may have begun with our parents, siblings, friends, teachers or even the media sending us positive and negative messages about ourselves. What can stay with us is the message you are not good enough. Living up to other people’s expectations of you can be difficult or even our own expectations of ourselves whilst often experiencing stress and difficult life events throughout our lives. This can lead to anxiety and depression.

As a Psycho-synthesis therapist, I hold this work in a big life perspective. I have an integrated spiritual practice, which means I believe that everything is connected, and that we can do all kinds of amazing things when we hold our issues in the context of greater purpose and meaning. If you want to make changes, I'll help you access what you know and also help you to explore some different ways of seeing things. I find that the right questions can make all the difference, and humour is a great way to connect and shift perspective on things.

I can help you to understand how your life experiences in the past informs your current thinking and behaviours. We will get to the root of the issue and I will help you to recognise and understand your own inner voices, what they tell you and where they come from (and they always come from somewhere!) rather than just trying to change things without really understanding why. We can work together to challenge those often negative and critical voices so that you can incorporate new healthy ways of relating and feeling, not only for yourself but with others.

If you recognise:

  • Difficulty speaking up and prioritising your own needs, wants and feelings
  • Saying “I’m sorry” and/ or feeling guilty for everyday actions
  • Not “rocking the boat”
  • Not feeling deserving of, or capable of, having “more”
  • Self -Sabotage
  • Difficulty in making your own choices or overthinking

I can help.

What to do Next
Please contact me if you feel ready to make positive changes, have any questions or would just like to find out more about working with me.  In my own life challenges, I’ve experienced the difference between times when I didn’t have the right support and times when I did – and having people who could see me, offer a bigger perspective, and help me learn how to find my way through has made all the difference.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
