About me
I am a Chartered Clinical and Educational Psychologist and I am keen to help people who might feel they have lost their way and are facing life in a way that is uncomfortable or stressful for them. This could be related to life events, or to unpleasant feelings that are making life difficult at the moment.
I tend to work briefly, over a few weeks or months, but I am very comfortable with longer term work and single session therapy as well.
The approach I bring to therapeutic work is Personal Construct Psychology because that allows me to work with the sense individuals have made of their own experiences, whatever their age. I have training and experience in other therapies, such as Solution Focussed Therapy, Brief Therapy, Single Session Therapy and CBT.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Clinical and Educational Psychologist with an additional diploma in Personal Construct Psychology Counselling. I have been working therapeutically with people for over 40 years, mostly in the NHS. Throughout my career I have specialised in psychological work with people who are neurodivergent (particularly with autism and ADHD) working with children and young people and their carers, and with adults. Although I am trained and qualified to assess autism and I have spent many years working to develop assessment and therapeutic services within the NHS, I do not do that now. I know that there is not enough therapy available for people who are, or identify as, neurodivergent, and I have seen how difficult things can be for people and for their families.
At the start of my career, I worked as a Residential Social Worker and then as a teacher in a residential special school for young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Then I became a foster carer for young people who were difficult to place in families. In my roles as a psychologist, I have worked with families where the child is adopted or living with foster carers. I am particularly keen to help young adults who have had these experiences so that they can develop their own coping skills.
Within the NHS, I have been working in clinical leadership roles and have strived to develop ways of working that were accessible to the public and reached more people.
Through the Coventry Constructivist Centre, I teach counsellors, therapists and psychologists who are following the Foundation Course in Personal Construct Psychology. I have also taught and written about my own practice, and spoken at many national and international conferences about my work and the services I have been part of developing.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
