Heather Lewis Reg. MBACP (Accred) MSc Psychotherapy & BA (Hons) Counselling
My name is Heather Lewis, I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP (Accred)) and adhere to the ethical framework for counselling professionals.
I currently offer in person, on-line and telephone counselling.
I have nearly 10 years experience in a wide variety of concerns including: anxiety, depression, panic attacks, feeling sad or relational issues, I offer you a warm welcome!
I have experience in providing counselling and psychotherapy to people with concerns such as:
Affairs and betrayals
Generalised anxiety disorder
Issues from childhood
Major life changes
Stress at work or home
Work related stress
Unhelpful behavioural patterns
Having spent more than 28 years in the Civil Service (Home Office), I retrained as a counsellor/psychotherapist working for a number of years in a very large NHS GPs practice.
I now work solely in private practice in Canterbury and Isle of Sheppey seeing individuals, couples and supervisees.
I use an integrative approach which means I can tailor my approach according to your needs.
We all face times in our life when we are faced with difficulties and issues, which can often feel overwhelming, shameful or distressing. We may be experiencing anxiety, depression, panic attacks or generally feeling sad.
If this is you, don't despair... I believe that talking therapy can assist in helping to come to terms with a variety of complex feelings.
It can often be difficult to talk to family or friends about how we are feeling, and although the idea of coming to counselling for the first time may initially feel unusual or unnerving, I offer a safe, neutral space where you can talk freely and in confidence about yourself and any issues you may be experiencing, whether that be historical, emotional or relationship issues.
We will work together at a pace to suit you, with a view you developing understanding, change and/or release of difficult feelings and needs.
I wish you to:
. Feel heard
. Feel safe to explore any difficulties freely
. Begin to feel/think about things differently
I aim to be as flexible as possible, offering both day time and evening availability, but no weekends at present. I can accommodate shift workers.
Individual sessions last for 50 minutes
Couple sessions last for around 60 minutes.
It is normal to meet weekly.
We can work in either a time limited, or more open ended way, according to your needs and desires.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
