About me

Hi, I'm a BACP accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor with around 15 years experience. I am passionate about the possibilities that good therapy affords us. The couples counselling and family work training I undertook at RELATE allowed me to experience the transformative effects of psychotherapy and counselling on our closest relationships. 4 out of 5 of us will feel stuck, anxious, stressed and depressed at some time in our lives. If this is how you feel, Jigsaw Counselling can help you put the pieces back together again. Please visit my website for fuller details; jigsaw-counselling.co.uk.

Here's how I work with you; I work in an integrative style, which means I am able to work from different therapeutic modalities in order to tailor make the best route to match your needs. I work with couples, families, individuals and young people. I work from a purpose built office which is peaceful and private. The bright and airy rooms facilitate exploring issues which may be holding you back in life. There are often effective solutions to the problems, learning the tools you need to put the solutions into practice helps you regain control of your life.

Come in for a consultation; Are you looking for help with relationship issues? Do you feel stuck and dissatisfied? You might be struggling with low mood and anxiety. You are not alone. Come in for a friendly consultation to explore what may help.

Training, qualifications & experience

As an accredited member of BACP, I am bound by their code of ethics and principles of good practice. I undertake Continuous Professional Development as part of the requirement and to enhance my practice. I hold full professional indemnity insurance and posses an enhanced CRB certificate.

I studied Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at Vaughan College, Leicester university and worked with individuals in both the voluntary and academic sector for many years. As my work developed, I became extremely curious about the dynamics of relationships and family scripts as it appeared to me that so much of our ways of relating to one another, is embedded by this most complex of institutions! This led me  to work at RELATE where I was afforded the opportunity to gain further training in working with families, couples and young people. I studied at Birkbeck University, London and gained a postgraduate degree in Systemic Relationship Therapy.

I specialise in working with couples, families and young people. I am employed by the South Leicestershire Learning Partnership to work along side young people in schools. I am passionate about the opportunities that early interventions can offer and would like to campaign for 'emotional intelligence' to be taught compulsorily on the national curriculum!

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

The above areas are just a guideline. The main areas I specialise in are relationship and family therapy. I am experienced in issues surrounding divorce and separation. The loss and pain triggered by the breakdown of a significant relationship can feel overwhelming. Having someone professionally trained to help manage emotions and develop strategies to cope , can make an enormous difference. The outstanding training I received |t Relate allows me to offer clients the very best experience at a difficult time.

The work I carry out in schools often focuses on issues surrounding cyber safety and this has become an increasing issues of interest. I am passionate about being afforded the opportunity to encourage safety and emotional intelligence in the use of the internet. The work I do often reflects the dramatic emotions elicited once the full enormity of intimate disclosures made permanent on line are processed. Cyber Safety is an area of interest.
