About us

Heather Counselling is a confidential counselling service based in Friockheim, Angus. We are a mother/daughter team of two fully qualified counsellors: Fiona Arnot and Lucy Arnot.

Our appointments are carried out in a peaceful summerhouse in a private garden. We can provide a safe and confidential space for you to talk about any issues that are causing you concern or distress.

We are trained in pluralistic counselling which means we tailor our practice according to your needs and preferences. This might include 'Walk and Talk' therapy where we can take our work together outdoors.

We will not judge, nor will we tell you what to do. Instead we will work with you to help you move forward in a way that is right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Fiona worked for a number of years in the education sector, including as head teacher of a primary school. She gained the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills in 2007 before completing the PGDip Counselling at the University of Abertay in 2009. She has worked with a wide range of clients including children and young people. She worked with an art therapist in primary and secondary schools providing expressive arts groups.

Lucy gained an MA in Anthropology before working in the NGO sector in London for six years. After returning to Scotland, she completed an MSc in Counselling from Abertay University in 2017. She has worked with adults of all ages experiencing a variety of issues, and has worked with student counselling services at several Scottish universities. She is also a volunteer with the British Red Cross Psychosocial Support Team.
