About me
As a qualified counsellor and therapeutic coach, I am able to work in a variety of ways that will help you to find healing and growth towards reaching your full potential. Deciding to have counselling may feel like a big step to take, and you are probably feeling a mixture of emotions as you contemplate making this decision. I would like to allay some of your fears: Our first session will be a chance for me to learn a little about you, and what has brought you into counselling. You will also be able to sense whether I am the right counsellor for you. In subsequent sessions we will be able to work in a number of ways as you bring to me the issues you wish to raise. It can be very healing to have someone listen in a non-judgmental way, offering acceptance, warmth and understanding, and this is my aim.
I am a qualified Counsellor, Coach, Supervisor and Trainer and I also work online by video call or telephone. I have worked as a counsellor and play/creative art therapist in schools, and in private practice for 15 years. I work with all ages from 5 years old upwards, as well as teenagers and adults.
When appropriate I work creatively, using a mixture of interventions such as drawing, sand tray, craft, clay etc. My training in coaching and mindfulness also allows me to combine the benefits of all approaches by working on timelines of past, present and future.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Professional Doctorate in Professional Studies in Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies.
I have an MA in Relational Counselling & Psychotherapy & a BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling.
I am also a qualified Play Therapist and Creative Art Therapist. I have an MA in Play Therapy and a Diploma in Creative Art Therapy.
I am also qualified in Mindfulness and as a Therapeutic Coach.
I have a PG Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy Supervision.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
