About us

Hello

Chances are if you’ve stumbled across Headstuff ADHD Therapy , it’s because you are either diagnosed ADHD or are wondering if you are! Or you or your child are looking for therapy specifically for ADHD. You really have come to the right place because Headstuff ADHD Therapy are the U.K.’s only ADHD organisation who guarantee that every counsellor is diagnosed ADHD. This means we really understand your ADHD brain from the inside out. Some of our therapists are also parents of ADHD children and some have ADHD partners. So we see it from all angles!

We offer a complete range of services including a Pre-Diagnosis Assessment for children aged 6+ and adults who are desperately trying to work out if ADHD is the issue. We collaboratively work with you to spot any ADHD traits that you have and put you straight on the path to diagnosis - if this is what you decide you want. We work very closely with ADHD specialist paediatricians and psychiatrists and will handle the whole referral process for you. If you decide you would like to be assessed on the NHS we help you with that referral process too. We totally understand that everybody’s ADHD journey is different. We will go at your pace. If you purely want to be assessed without the referral that is fine. But if you want to go through the whole assessment and diagnosis process we will hold your hand and help you every step of the way.

If you are already diagnosed ADHD - we offer a full counselling and coaching service. All our counsellors are fully qualified counsellors and a lot are qualified coaches as well. We can work with you on ADHD coping strategies and mechanisms as well as education around all things ADHD. ADHD isn’t only about inattention, distraction impulsivity and hyperactivity. There are hundreds of other ADHD traits and we know all of them and how to work best with them!

We also specialise in working with parents who have children with ADHD. We can help you get inside your child’s head to understand exactly how and why they think, feel and behave as they do. Then we help you set them on the path to success and bring harmony back to your home. If your child is displaying angry or violent behaviour, or has landed in trouble with the police, we have trained and experienced therapists who work very successfully with ADHD teenagers going off the rails. One of our therapists is an ex-prison/young offender institute counsellor passionate about keeping ADHD kids as far away from the criminal justice system as possible. Another is trained in family mediation. Others are trained in anger management.

If your children are ‘anti counselling’ and have declared they will never sit in front of a counsellor again, our teen therapists can change all that! We are ‘jeans and T-shirt counsellors with rebellious ADHD streaks of our own’!

So if anything ADHD is troubling you, you suspect you have the condition or you need help with ADHD children. you are very welcome to contact us

Something else we are very passionate about is the amount of misdiagnosis around ADHD. Particularly borderline personality disorder/emotionally unstable personality disorder which is a diagnosis given to many when in actual fact they have ADHD. So if you have a diagnosis of BPD/EUPD but are unsure it fits, please contact us. We can help.

Addiction often goes hand-in-hand with ADHD. At Headstuff Therapy we have specialist substance misuse counsellors, some of whom have worked in addiction for over 20 years. They are all ADHD themselves, some with addiction in their own pasts, and understand only too well how addiction and ADHD coexist. They work with you completely non judgementally to understand and manage your ADHD at the same time as conquering your addiction issues.

All our counsellors are trained to work with every aspect of ADHD from managing the traits, coping strategies, self harm, medication titration, parenting ADHD children, relationships in trouble because of ADHD and psycho education.
If you think Headstuff ADHD Therapy can help you, you are more than welcome to get in touch.

We are based in High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire and have ADHD therapists in High Wycombe, Marlow and Little Chalfont. But we also have other hand picked ADHD Counsellors all over the UK and our team is growing.
We all work by video, telephone and face-to-face so wherever you are we will be able to help you.

Please do get in touch if you think we can help you or your family in anyway

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
