Dr Hazel Vane-Wright
I am a chartered Counselling Psychologist offering private psychological therapy in the Canterbury area. My aim is to help you better understand your difficulties and work with you to find some solutions to your problems.
Counselling Psychology is the branch of professional psychology which brings together scientific research into the human condition with the main psychotherapeutic traditions.
In my role as a therapist, I aim to provide an opportunity for individuals to talk about their concerns within a safe environment, working collaboratively with them to explore difficulties, make changes and come to terms with challenging events in their lives.
My current charges per sessions are £40 for individuals and £60 for couples. Before any longer term commitment, I offer an initial meeting to assess whether private psychological therapy is likely to be beneficial. This will enable any potential clients to learn whether they are comfortable working with me and to ask relevant questions. I offer appointments on weekdays and some evenings. I work from a home office, with separate entrance, near the Kent and Canterbury Hospital.
Training, qualifications & experience
Working as a Psychologist is my third career so you can feel assured that I will bring maturity and life experience to my relationship with you. After my first degree I was employed as a teacher and then became an advisor providing educational and careers guidance to both young people and adults. Considerable experience of working one-to-one with individuals wishing to progress in their lives, gave me an appreciation that the barriers to personal development and growth often lie within our psychological makeup.
After completing a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, I qualified as a Counselling Psychologist through City University and then completed a professional doctorate. I have experience of working with individuals and couples within the NHS, charities and the private sector. Most recently, I have been employed within a NHS Psychological Service for Older Adults but am also interested in the issues facing younger adults. I am registered with both the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
