I am an experienced therapist, having worked for over 27 years in private practice. I also worked in mental health services for 12 years as a psychological therapist. Currently I am working in a trauma counselling centre.
My in-depth training was in gestalt therapy, a humanistic-existential approach, with the belief that we are all born with the potential to be in rewarding contact with other people, and to lead a fulfilling and creative life. However, experiences in childhood, and sometimes later, can interrupt that potential personal growth, and we can get stuck in patterns that hold us back and often cause much distress.
As a gestalt therapist, I would help you explore how these patterns may still be active in your life, and I would hope to help you to find new and more creative ways to solve the problems or crisis that you are facing.
Mindfulness, being in the here and now with an attitude of openness, curiosity and acceptance, is a core component of Gestalt, and since having trained in mindfulness meditation teaching, I am also able to help people establish a regular mindfulness practice, which you might be interested in.
