About me

I currently offer sessions via: telephone, Skype or FaceTime.

I understand how life is not always straight forward. Sometimes a particular event or crisis brings things to a head, and you may be finding it difficult to cope.

  • Perhaps you are struggling with relationship or family problems.
  • You may be experiencing periods of depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, anger, self doubt or loneliness.
  • You may have suffered a bereavement or loss.

Maybe things just don't feel right, but you're not sure why.  This may be based on past experience, a present problem or a future concern. I can help you to understand the concerns you are facing and provide support when difficult emotions are being stirred up.

I work with individuals and couples, have a warm and empathic approach and see each person as a unique individual. I provide a comfortable, safe and confidential space in which you can talk with someone who will remain impartial and who will not criticise or judge you or tell you what to do. Together we can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, helping you find ways to begin to sow the seeds for change.

I am an experienced qualified counsellor and psychotherapist (Member of the BACP and UKCP accred).  My integrative training enables me to adapt and use an approach which is right for you at a particular time.  I do not set a limit on how many sessions you might need - we can work this out together and we can review it at any time.

I work with the following issues:

  • Relationships (partner, children, family, friendships)
  • Depression
  • Bereavement and Loss
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Trauma
  • Anger
  • Low self-esteem and lack of confidence
  • Divorce and Separation
  • Affairs and Betrayal
  • Family and Parenting concerns
  • Work related concerns
  • Health issues

As well as currently working in private practice and the NHS, I have gained a wealth of experience working at Mind, and within other counselling agency settings. I regularly attend workshops and other developmental opportunities as part of my ongoing commitment to expand my knowledge.

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist and counsellor I worked as a Director within the Human Resources Department of a publishing company where I regularly mediated within departmental teams as well as being responsible for the welfare of all the employees.

If you would like to find out more about counselling and if it could be of benefit to you, I would be happy to hear from you. Please email or telephone me (07570 015577) to discuss and arrange an appointment, which will give us both the opportunity to talk about your expectations, hopes, fears and the reason you are considering counselling.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP

UK Council for Psychotherapy

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
