About me

My name is Harvey and I am a therapist working in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and Birmingham. I currently work for Here for you Counselling, a therapy service that I started. I have experience working with many different presenting issues, including; depression, anxiety, stress, relationship problems, bereavement, low self-esteem, PTSD, abuse and many more. I have worked with I wide range of clients, however I have particular experience working with young people, aged 18-35.

I work from an integrative approach, where I use a variety of psychological theories to deliver therapy that is based around each individual. I am able to work in a traditional face-to-face setting at my office in Cheltenham/Birmingham or remotely via Skype/Zoom. I offer either 25 minute or 50 minute sessions, depending on individual preference.

Making the decision to seek counselling is a difficult and emotional journey. Often we find ourselves faced with many questions that cannot be answered comfortably online. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about counselling, whether you intend to book an appointment or not.

Therapy packages

In addition to open ended therapy I offer a limited number of therapy packages. This is six weeks of structured therapy. You will meet with your therapist on the same day and time each week and follow a tried and tested programme for brief therapy intervention. The sessions will consist of understanding what the challenge you are facing is, formulating this and thinking about ways to move forward. You will gain physical resources from the sessions to take away with and and implement in your daily life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
