Harriet Sawyerr BSc integrative Counsellor MBACP (Accred)
Are you looking for a counsellor/psychotherapist who will listen and support you whilst you are going through a difficult period in your life -- perhaps you are experiencing difficulties in your relationships (such as emotional abuse, cultural issues, domestic violence) or feeling stuck in repetitive and unhelpful patterns in your relationships, have suffered loss or bereavement of a loved one, struggling with the stresses of a busy life, feeling misunderstood and your mental health affected by work-related issues such as harassment or bullying, weighed down by anxiety, panic attacks, depression and low self-esteem? I am here to work through these difficulties with you to seek a constructive way forward. I will use a variety of therapies to suit your particular needs to relieve you of emotional distress.
I am available for online and telephone counselling and will become available again for face-to-face counselling after the lockdown has been lifted.
MY COUNSELLING PRACTICE IS LOCATED within a short walk from Streatham Common Station. I am within easy reach of Mitcham, Tooting, Morden, Balham, Clapham, Brixton, Thornton Health, Croydon and Colliers Wood by car and public transport. There is ample space for parking on my road and in the surrounding streets.
WHEN CAN COUNSELLING HELP?
Life can seem very hard at times and we can all feel overwhelmed by our struggles and find it hard to cope. This is the time when having some individual therapy with a qualified counsellor can be both a lifeline and life changing.
In counselling you can explore your confusion or distress, look at aspects of your life you may be struggling with, and find new ways of looking at and managing your problems.
My Counselling practice provides a comfortable, safe and confidential setting where you will be listened to, respected and supported. Within the healing and supportive therapeutic relationship you can gain clarity, insight and strength in order to move forward in your life with more confidence.
THE FIRST STEP on the therapeutic journey is often the hardest but if you are reading this page you are ready to take it.
You can email me or telephone now to discuss your individual requirements and/or arrange an initial appointment. It really is as easy as that.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
