About me

Do you feel stuck, perhaps in relationships or your job, and cannot see a way forward?  Are fears of making wrong decisions, failure or rejection holding you back making you feel frustrated, lonely and sad?  Maybe you aren’t sure what you want, you just know something is missing.  Or there seem to be so many obstacles in the way of your reaching your goals. You may feel lost and time is running out.

Do you find yourself asking:

  • Why do I keep on making bad choices?
  • Why do I keep on walking into relationships that hurt me?
  • What am I doing wrong?

Sometimes talking to friends or family can be difficult because you are worried about upsetting them or feeling a burden.  I offer a space where I will listen and accept you for you.  Together we will work to help you find your way forward and cope better with what is making you feel worried, overwhelmed and sad.

It can be really hard asking for help; I appreciate how uncomfortable and awkward it can feel.  Perhaps you are thinking:

  • I’ve got it good compared to everyone else and shouldn’t complain
  • I should be able to do this on my own
  • I don’t deserve it, other people have real problems

This is not unusual and many people feel like this.  You are making the first steps already and I offer a free introductory phone call where I can answer any questions or concerns you have.

How I can help
I can help you feel better about yourself and this in turn will help you to have healthier relationships, feel more fulfilled and happier.  Through my work with clients, these are some of the outcomes I have seen, and that I can help you to achieve too:

  • Cope with difficult relationships – both in your personal and work life
  • Feel less stuck and have the confidence to make decisions
  • Feel less overwhelmed and stressed and find the balance needed to cope with life
  • Find stress and anger management techniques
  • Feel less guilty
  • Be kinder and more accepting of yourself

Our initial session will be an opportunity for us to get a sense of how we may work together and whether you feel I am the right therapist of you - there is no obligation.  We will talk about the difficulties you are experiencing, what you would like to get from counselling and how I can support you in achieving this.  I am here to listen to what is going on for you, so please do get in touch.

About me
My experience of counselling began when I started seeing a counsellor because I needed to talk about someone in my life where I thought we would never speak again. Counselling helped me to completely turn this around and we ended up having a very close relationship. Knowing the difference counselling can make, I wanted to work with people who were struggling and feeling overwhelmed and offer support in helping them to find their way to healthier and happier relationships.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
