I'm a Pluralistic counsellor and run a therapy practice called 'Know & Grow Counselling and Psychotherapy' in Nottingham, which is currently for adults (18+). I am also Academy Counsellor at Arnold Hill Spencer Academy, where I work with a variety of young people aged 11-18. As a counsellor, I work with a range of different issues and am specialized in working with depression, low confidence and low self-esteem.
As a person, I am empathetic, compassionate, genuine and believe strongly in the therapeutic relationship being one of honesty and trust. Know & Grow was created to encourage clients like you to become more aware of yourself, others and the world, and to inspire you to grow as an individual in whatever way you wish to . To do this, I believe you need to feel you can explore your life in a safe and supportive way and discuss what is important and relevant to you. I can provide this through a supportive therapeutic relationship and my skillset as a professional counsellor and psychotherapist.
My availability is on Mondays and Tuesdays between 9am-6pm. Please call or email me if you are interested to learn more, it would be great to hear from you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained with Chrysalis Courses and achieved a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice (PROF, DIP PSY C.).
I have recently started working with adult clients and have found it to be a positive experience. I have also counselled young people within the education and charity sectors. Prior to being a counsellor, I worked within the education sector as a teaching assistant and English tutor.
At the beginning of my professional life, I had studied law (earning a 2.1 law degree (LLB) from Nottingham Trent University) before working in the legal sector. I worked in housing, family, and human rights law, working with issues such as: homelessness, eviction, neighbouring and landlord disputes, divorce, separation, and clients claiming asylum. These experiences have been invaluable to my counselling practice, since it allowed me to understand and assist with a variety of complex relational and emotional issues from a young age. Since I cared so much about the emotional distress and changes that clients were experiencing, I felt a role in a caring profession was better suited to my personality and skillset.
