Gwen Randall, BA (Hons), Foundation Degree, MBACP (Accre), UKCP (Reg)Supervisor
I offer both short and long term counselling. Short term being 6 weeks. I offer interventions relating to anxiety, depression, insomnia for example. In addition anxiety related to the use of all forms of social media.I am led by the client in the way in which they wish to work, however I use elements of bodywork and making art if the client is interested in working in this way. At this time of year when daylight hours are less our mood may be affected by this. I am able to work with you to reduce the affects of reduced daylight on your mood and to facilitate and increased sense of wellbeing during the winter months.
My speciality is Trauma Therapy and the treatment of complex PTSD and Secondary Impact Trauma. This may be as a result of working within the emergency services, or other workplace traumatic experiences. In addition as a result of domestic violence, emotional or sexual abuse. Relational trauma can also occur for example as a result of bullying in any setting.
I am an Integrative, Person Centred Counsellor which means that I am guided by you as the client, as to your needs and we work together, helping you to identify areas you wish to work with. However in addition I use elements of CBT, Psychotherapy and other interventions where appropriate. I provide Clinical Supervision to Psychotherapists. I am experienced in working with relationship issues, depression, cross cultural issues and complex PTSD. My background is of working In the NHS providing therapy within the Mental Health Services in Hull. I am experienced in working with BME and minority groups and cross culturally. In addition I work with victims of crime. I have experience in particular in working with work place issues, this also includes the distress caused by adult bullying in the workplace, as well as change in the workplace. I have experience of working with clients experiencing anxiety relating to change and entering retirement. Other issues which may be bought to counselling are for example, depression, anxiety, relationship and bereavement difficulties.
I strive to provide a 'safe' space where you will feel confident and safe in being able to explore your issues. Many people come to Counselling being aware of their difficulties but feeling overwhelmed and unsure of how to make changes. By working together we can explore thoughts and feelings to enable you to gain control over your life and movement towards your goals and plans whilst being fully supported by myself. I am also experienced in working with clients who are affected by PTSD. This may be due issues of relationship, traumatic incidents, road traffic accidents for example, domestic abuse and any situation which has/is traumatising to the client.
